The Wentzville School District (WSD) started the 2026-27 school year strong, welcoming 17,460 students in kindergarten through 12th grade through its doors. This is slightly lower than the 17,609 students who attended the first week of 2025-26. Additionally, early childhood programs have 590 students enrolled, with 284 of those attending the newly opened Samuelson Early Childhood Center.

“We’re so excited to welcome our new and returning students,” said Brian Bishop, superintendent. “There’s no better feeling than watching the halls come to life within our schools. This will be another fantastic year for the WSD.”

This year marks the start of several changes in the WSD, including the replacement of Late Start Mondays with Early Release Wednesdays. In addition to the monthly 120-minute All-District Early Release Wednesdays, the District will introduce weekly 68-minute Secondary (Grades 6-12) Early Release Wednesdays on full school weeks.

In the interest of safety of all students, staff, and visitors, electric bikes, motorbikes, scooters, and similar non-licensed motorized vehicles may no longer be ridden on school property. These vehicles may be used to arrive on campus, but must be walked to the front of buildings. This change is being implemented to help ensure a safe environment for everyone during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the school day.

Another policy implemented this year is the clear bag guidelines for ticketed high school athletic events. In coordination with neighboring St. Charles County districts, WSD is implementing new bag guidelines to help enhance safety and security at ticketed high school athletic events.

The WSD is home to two early childhood centers, 12 elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools. We also have adaptive and alternative learning centers.
