Summer 2026 Facilities Projects - Capital Project Update

Posted

When the last bell rings and the students leave for summer break, the halls of each building in the Wentzville School District erupt with a different hustle and bustle. While summer is in full swing, our facilities team is hard at work transforming spaces, updating critical infrastructure, and breathing new life into athletic and learning environments so that our students and staff return to an inspiring environment on day one.

Renewing Our Buildings for the New Year

At Holt High School, students returned to a completely renovated auditorium featuring modernized seating and updated acoustics. Over in the weight room, fresh layout updates, lighting, and specialized flooring created a top-tier training space for student-athletes. Outside, our crew worked alongside the Daughters of the American Revolution to honor local history by preserving the landmark grave site of Revolutionary War Patriot Pvt. John Castlio (1762–1830).

Over at Timberland High School, Friday night lights are now shining brighter under brand-new stadium LED lighting. Softball players returned to newly constructed, fully enclosed dugouts, while critical site infrastructure work was completed on the school’s drainage basin near the student parking lot. A multi-phased HVAC modernization project was completed, replacing 160 Water Source Heat Pumps (WSHPs), installing new main piping, updating drainage, and deploying a state-of-the-art building automation system to achieve peak energy efficiency.

Across our middle school campuses, Frontier Middle School received 121,300 square feet of roofing replacement to protect classroom spaces for years to come. Meanwhile, classroom comfort at Wentzville Middle School received a boost thanks to newly installed rooftop climate control units (RTUs), with upgraded electrical systems and duct integration.

At Pearce Hall, corridors and shared areas were brightened up with new drop ceilings and modern LED lighting.

Outdoor play and athletic areas also saw major upgrades: playgrounds at Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, and Prairie View were enhanced with safer, inclusive play structures and sensory-rich surfacing, while student-athletes at Holt, Liberty, and Timberland high schools stepped out onto new main gym floors to start the year.

Finally, this summer marked the official completion of the Samuelson Early Childhood Center, and our team was thrilled to welcome the very first classes of Kangaroos as they hopped through the doors on the first day.

District-Wide Improvements & Infrastructure

Beyond individual building highlights, essential infrastructure updates took place across the entire district. Facilities crews poured heavy-transit entry drives, service pads, and access ramps, while parking lots were refreshed with high-durability asphalt and clear re-striping.

To round out the summer prep, interior hallways and high-traffic rooms across several buildings received new floor tiling while custodial crews waxed and refreshed all tile flooring throughout the district to have every campus shining for day one.

By the Numbers

This summer, 28 maintenance team members resolved 2,000 work orders. The district's 3.4 million square feet were cleaned, sanitized, and prepped by 152 dedicated custodians. $20.06 million in total capital investments were managed across summer projects and upcoming phased developments.

Looking Ahead

Even as the new school year gets underway, our facilities team is already mapping out the future. Through ongoing Prop O planning, site walks, and design reviews, we continue working to ensure every tax dollar is maximized to serve our community and support student success for generations to come.
